Clean Ionizers, Clean Results—Why Preventative Maintenance Pays Off – Technical Article

Since 1973, Static Clean International has helped manufacturers eliminate static in critical environments—from medical device assembly to high-speed electronics and packaging lines. Ionizers play a key role in ensuring product quality, compliance, and safety. But like any piece of equipment, they need regular attention to stay effective.

At Static Clean International, we’ve spent decades designing and manufacturing industry-leading static control systems. But we don’t stop at building great equipment—we also service it.

Our Ionizer Service Program

We offer customized maintenance programs for customers within 200 miles of our North Billerica, MA facility. While our core program supports companies with 10 or more ionizing units, we also offer local one-time cleanings for smaller facilities.

Why does this matter? Many facilities don’t have the bandwidth—or expertise—to keep up with preventative maintenance. As a result, ionizer performance degrades over time, leading to increased static, contamination, or even failed audits in cleanroom settings.

For Industrial Operations

From injection molding to packaging lines, ionizers in industrial environments often face dust, heat, and grime. Our service includes:

  • Replacing filters on ionizing blowers (every 1–3 months recommended)
  • Static decay testing using a DP Charged Plate Monitor
  • Cleaning emitter pins with isopropyl alcohol and nylon brushes
  • Full wipe-down of the unit
  • Detailed service report for records and planning
  • Optional deep-clean service (removal, inspection, remounting) 1–2x per year

For Medical and Cleanroom Customers

Cleanroom and FDA-regulated facilities rely heavily on consistency and documentation. We support that with:

  • Decay and ion balance testing
  • HEPA and prefilter replacement (prefilters every 1–2 months; HEPA ~3 years)
  • Dust bag cleanouts
  • Pin cleaning on ionizing fans and bars
  • Audit-ready reports showing test results for all serviced units

Making Maintenance Easy with QR Codes

We’re also rolling out QR-coded service tags that make scheduling service or accessing unit history as easy as scanning with your phone. It’s just one more way we’re modernizing ionizer care.

The Bottom Line

Facilities that proactively maintain their ionizing equipment see fewer contamination issues, improved product yield, longer equipment life, and better readiness for customer or regulatory audits.

Whether you have 10 units or 100, we’re here to keep them running like new.
